To answer the question “What’s Wealthy Affiliate About?” without bias is easy… Education… Now, one person says scam the other may say lottery ticket but that seems to happen once you gain a little popularity.

Wealthy Affiliate (WA) is all about building an upscale community for affiliate entrepreneurs to come together and contribute knowledge about the ever-changing online Marketing world.

Hi, My name is Mascal John Milligan. You can call me John. I want to share with you my experience at WA and what I have learned thus far.

Niches & Names

Niche – What topic do you want to cover?

A broad example of a niche would be Health and Fitness.

When you pick such a broad topic like health and fitness there’re lots of competition, big-name competition too. This would be a really difficult niche to get ahead in.

WA has a way around this called “Low Hanging Fruit”

It’s a simple concept; narrow down your topic focusing on low competition.

One example could be instead of using Health and Fitness use Breathing Exercises to Improve Lung Capacity.

Name – What are you going to call your website?

It can be whatever you want it to be. But it helps if you can pick a.com that has a little to do with your chosen niche.

Premium membership at WA will gain you access to 50 websites you can call your own.

The paid ones can range from $10-15US for one year.

WA’s Site Content Platform

I want to say first, that I don’t consider myself to be a writer far from it actually. So don’t let that stop you.

You just need to be able to communicate with people.

Site Content Platform

Ideally, you want to turn your website into an authority figure for your respective niche. (Niche meaning the topic of your website Ex. Health, Fitness, Make Money Online, Finance…etc)

WA has a writing platform called Site Content for those of you who don’t use Microsoft Word or Google Docs this is a great substitute.

WA also partners with WordPress, the leading content management system in the world, to help facilitate designing and building your unique website.

Site Content stats

Site Content ties directly into your WordPress website so when you finish your article/post you’ve been working on, you can publish right to your website.

Site Content’s features include:

  • Spelling & Grammer check
  • Auto Publish
  • Template Design
  • Stats & Goals
  • Word Counter

It can even tell you when your published article has been indexed into Google!

Jaxxy's search bar in WA

Jaaxy KeyWord Search

Searching for keywords is a big, big, big, BIG part of creating a successful business online. You will learn to love Jaaxy.

They offer great statistics on how competitive a keyword/phrase is and how many searches that particular keyword gets per month.

Alphabet Soup is a comprehensive phrase suggestion tool supplied by Jaaxy. I found it to be quite helpful when I’m stuck trying to find the best keyword/phrase to match what I want my next article to be about.

WA has Jaaxy’s search bar embedded into their platform for a quick inquiry into the keyword that just came to mind.

Jaaxy is free for WA members and of course, they also offer an upgraded version.

At Least 3 Months in Google’s Sandbox

There’s a period that ALL brand new sites have to deal with called Google’s Sandbox. It’s not confirmed by Google that it is a real, but there are many leading experts that make a convincing argument. I’m not here to discuss that, so if you want to know more here’s a link.

The main idea behind affiliate marketing is to drive traffic to your site!

There are three basic kinds of traffic:

  • Paid
  • SEO(Free)
  • Social Media (Free)
Google's Sandbox

Paid – Which is pretty self-explanatory is when you pay for Google or Facebook to advertise your website to their visitors.

There are 3 ways to be charged for this:

  1. PPC (Pay Per Click)
  2. PPI (Pay Per Impression)
  3. Display Ads

(When just starting out I wouldn’t recommend paid ads)

So SEO or Search Engine Optimization. This is where search engines like Google, Bing & Yahoo rank you based on the keywords you are targeting.

Google counts for about 70% of the searches done online.

Bing and Yahoo share the other 30%.

Which still counts for millions of searches so you don’t want to leave them out. Keywords are anything you would type into the search bar.

Let’s focus primarily on Google because that’s where the bulk of your traffic will come from. The way Google pulls up search results is fairly complex.

They use over 200 factors in their algorithm to rank sites.

If your site is brand new, Google is not going to plaster you on the front page right out the gate.

No matter how well you’ve covered those 200 factors. So work, work, work on your site!!!

It’s going to take somewhere between 90/180 days before Google will trust your site enough to receive first page rankings.

Setting up free accounts that Google offers is not a bad idea when trying to show Google that you’re committed to providing good content.

Google’s Free Accounts Include:

  • Google AdSense
  • Google Search Console
  • Google Analytics
  • Google+ Account

As of 2020, Google+ will be decommissioned but it is still up and working right now so use it while you can.

If you are not turned off by the 6-month commitment so far then I strongly believe you will do great in the Affiliate Industry.

Social Media

Social media will play a huge part getting your site’s traffic up an moving. Google will be much more inclined to deem your site trustworthy if you already have traffic from other sources reading and interacting with your content.

I’m sure all of you have spent some time having a Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest account.

These social media platforms can drive a good deal of traffic if you spend a few minutes a day on them.

Be sure not spend too much time getting you sidetracked from the main reason your there… To Drive Traffic!!

List of top Social Media websites:

  • Facebook
    Social Media Cloud
  • Twitter
  • Pinterest
  • YouTube
  • Instagram
  • Reddit
  • Tumblr
  • Google+
  • Linkedin
  • Flickr

It’s not necessary to have all of them. That would be excessive but they will bring visitors to your site.

10 to 15 minutes on each account is plenty of time to create your post, add some friends and interact with people.

… And guess who else has a great way to have people interact with your posts?

Comment Thread

WA!! They provide a great deal of help when it comes to having real people comment and engage your site. The Give and Take Comment Platform is a perfectly placed springboard from for gaining Google’s trust in the early days of the site your being in the Sandbox.

It’s a clever system where you comment on someone’s website and they comment on yours. Thereby helping each other gain trust for Google’s rankings. You can also find some really interesting websites that people are building.

Ending Notes

The upside can be virtually limitless to the amount of income you can make. You are NOT going to just diddle around once or twice a week on the computer and find the money pouring in because you have a membership with a program….

Sorry, I wish that were true too.

It does help to be a part of a community of like-minded individuals that aspire to the same things as you. Especially when they are willing to share what works for them.

Coming from someone who hasn’t been doing this for long, I’ve found WA to be a great foundation to educate myself in building affiliate businesses.

If I can do it in 6 months so can you!

I have given you a basic overview of what you will encounter when you come to WA’s program. Hope you guys have enjoyed my article I try not to give you anything but facts. If you would like to leave me a comment please do so below. I will respond ASAP!
